What is SOIL Gurgaon MBA/PGPM program worth? Honest placements, fees, and quality assessment

mixednegativeplacementsROIfee justification

SOIL Gurgaon sits in a mid-tier position within India's MBA landscape, and the honest picture that emerges is one of mixed outcomes — with specialization choice playing a far more significant role in results than most prospective students realise going in.

On placements, we've seen credible accounts of general PGPM graduates landing roles at firms like Accenture with packages around 15 LPA, which suggests the program can deliver viable outcomes for the right profile. However, the HR specialization track tells a considerably different story. From what we've tracked through alumni and student conversations, fewer than 10% of HR batch students reportedly achieved placement within normal timelines, with average packages hovering around 8 LPA. Several students were reportedly pushed to opt out altogether. This is a meaningful gap — and if you're considering SOIL specifically for HR, that number deserves serious weight in your decision.

On fees versus outcomes, the ~20–30 lakh fee range consistently draws scrutiny, particularly for freshers. The consensus tends to be that this fee structure is difficult to justify without prior work experience to anchor your candidacy. In our experience, SOIL's peer set in the market includes Welingkar, Jaipuria Noida, IBS Gurgaon, and BIMTECH — all broadly competing in the same tier-2 band. That context matters when you're evaluating whether the investment makes sense relative to alternatives.

Several factors shape how much value a student extracts from SOIL:

The flagship PGDM and general PGPM tracks appear meaningfully stronger on placement outcomes than the HR specialization. Batch sizes are small — around 45 students in some cohorts — which can limit the depth of your peer network and alumni base. The 1-year PGPM format has drawn recurring questions about whether it holds its own against 2-year programs in recruiter perception. For freshers, particularly those considering management quota seats at full fees, the value equation is harder to defend.

We've also seen concerns raised around institutional responsiveness. There are documented instances of refund delays — including at least one case of a ₹2 lakh refund pending since March with no formal acknowledgment — and separate queries around registration fee refunds going unresolved. These are not disqualifying on their own, but they are signals worth noting when evaluating an institution you'll be financially committed to.

The profile that tends to come away most satisfied is the working professional with 2–5 years of experience at an MNC, using SOIL as a structured career-switch vehicle. For that cohort, the program appears to function reasonably well. For freshers, or for anyone entering the HR track specifically, the risk profile is considerably higher.

To put a number on it: general management tracks at SOIL appear to average somewhere in the 11–15 LPA range on placements. HR specialization significantly underperforms that band. Fee recovery timelines will vary sharply depending on which side of that split you land on.
