From a 99.95 percentile scorer who went on to join XLRI Jamshedpur's BM batch, here's a detailed breakdown of what actually worked — across preparation strategy, section-by-section approach, and exam-day execution.

Mock tests are the non-negotiable foundation. In the final 10 days before XAT, the approach was one full-length mock every day plus 1–2 sectional mocks, adding up to roughly 6 hours of daily preparation. We've seen this pattern consistently across high scorers — the volume isn't incidental, it's the mechanism through which stamina and decision-making instincts are built. Stamina does develop naturally through this process; even if you experience a slowdown in the final exam hour, adrenaline tends to compensate on the actual day.

On Decision Making (DM) — the section that defines XAT. This is where XAT diverges most sharply from CAT, and it's the section that trips up the most CAT-prepared students. The key insight here is that DM is intuitive, not formula-driven. There's no shortcut or formula set to memorise.
