Are PGP-LSM placement statistics published separately from the flagship PGP at IIM Kozhikode?
IIM Kozhikode does not publish a standalone placement report for PGP-LSM. The numbers are folded into the flagship PGP figures, and the institute has not changed this practice despite repeated queries from prospective students.
The 2024 PGP batch reported an average salary of approximately Rs 30 LPA, but that figure is essentially useless for PGP-LSM evaluation without knowing how many LSM students contributed to it and in what roles.
Why Pooled Data Is a Problem
When a small cohort like PGP-LSM gets absorbed into a larger flagship pool, the flagship's stronger performers statistically dilute or obscure what the niche programme is actually delivering. If the PGP batch has 400 students and PGP-LSM has 60, the flagship's median and average are driven overwhelmingly by PGP placements.
You have no way to isolate whether LSM graduates are landing logistics-and-supply-chain roles at Maersk, DHL Supply Chain, or Tata Steel, or whether they are flowing into generic management roles that any MBA could have sourced.
What the Recruiter Mix Actually Looks Like
Anecdotally, PGP-LSM recruits from firms like Amazon (supply chain and operations tracks), Blue Dart, Flipkart, and Mahindra Logistics, alongside consulting arms of Deloitte and KPMG that hire for operations practices. Some alumni report offers from HUL's supply chain vertical.
These are legitimate employers, but without median compensation figures broken out by programme, you cannot verify whether LSM-specific roles come in at Rs 18 LPA or Rs 28 LPA, and that gap matters enormously for ROI calculation.
The Cohort Network Argument Has Limits
IIM Kozhikode's campus does offer a shared peer network across PGP and PGP-LSM, and that proximity to the flagship batch is genuinely useful for cross-lateral introductions with recruiters. Some students describe benefiting from PGP classmates who facilitate recruiter connections in sectors outside core logistics.
That is a real upside. But proximity to a well-placed peer group is not a substitute for programme-level outcome data, and conflating the two is how candidates end up disappointed post-admission.
How to Actually Get the Numbers
Your best move is to email the IIM Kozhikode placement office directly and ask for PGP-LSM disaggregated data: average, median, minimum, and the sectoral split. Frame it as a programme evaluation question, not a complaint.
Some placement officers will share internal breakdowns informally even if they are not published. Simultaneously, reach out to two or three PGP-LSM alumni on LinkedIn from the 2022 and 2023 batches.
Alumni are often candid about actual offer ranges in ways that official reports never are. This is harder than reading a PDF, but it is the only path to real data.
The Honest Assessment
This opacity is a yellow flag, not necessarily a red one. Plenty of strong programmes do not disaggregate by cohort.
But if you are choosing between IIM Kozhikode PGP-LSM and, say, IIM Udaipur's supply chain specialisation or NITIE's PGDISEM (which publishes more granular sector-wise data), the lack of transparent reporting at IIMK shifts the burden of due diligence entirely onto you. Do not assume the Rs 30 LPA headline applies to your profile.
It almost certainly does not apply cleanly.
Pro Tip: Before applying, send a specific email to IIM Kozhikode's placement office asking for the median salary and top-three recruiters for PGP-LSM in the most recent batch, and use that response (or silence) as a signal about how seriously the institute tracks programme-level outcomes.
