LIBA Chennai Admission 2026-27 — Eligibility, Cutoffs, Selection Process & Important Dates
LIBA admits to its 2-year fully residential PGDM and 2-year MBA programmes through a CAT 2025 or XAT 2026 score, followed by a Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. Shortlisting is on the entrance exam score alone — LIBA does not publish a percentile cutoff but enforces a consistent academic record floor of 60 percent across 10th, 12th and graduation, with a strict no-arrears preference. The Class 2024-2026 batch size is 193 students with a 75:25 PGDM-to-MBA split and a 53:47 male-to-female ratio. About 75 percent of the cohort comes in with prior work experience averaging 4 years, with the rest being freshers.

Eligibility (F26 bulletin)
Bachelor's degree
Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university (AIU) under regular mode ONLY. Distance learning and correspondence-mode degrees are not accepted.
Academic floor
Consistently high academic performance at first class level — minimum 60 percent in STD X, STD XII AND Graduation. All three must clear the 60 percent floor.
Arrears policy
First-attempt clearance of all subjects is preferred. Candidates with a history of MORE THAN TWO ARREARS are asked NOT to apply.
Entrance exam
CAT 2025 OR XAT 2026 — either is sufficient. Most recent attempt accepted.
Selection Process (F26 bulletin)
Stage 1 — Shortlisting
Based on CAT 2025 OR XAT 2026 scores only. No specific percentile cutoff is published; LIBA short-lists from the eligible pool.
Stage 2 — Final selection
Short-listed candidates are called for a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for final selection. The bulletin lists WAT-GD-PI on the Admissions page; one earlier line in the bulletin lists only GD and PI — both rounds together cover the process.

Application Strategy (LIBA-specific)
CAT 80+ or XAT 88+ is a practical floor
LIBA does not publish a cutoff but historic call patterns suggest CAT 80+ percentile or XAT 88+ percentile is a comfortable shortlist range. Verify the current band with the placement cell or recent admit interviews.
Academic consistency carries weight
The 60 percent floor across all three of 10th, 12th and Graduation is strict. A 9.0 CGPA in graduation with 58 percent in 12th does not clear the eligibility bar.
Arrears history is a hard filter
Candidates with more than two arrears in graduation are explicitly asked NOT to apply. First-attempt clearance is preferred — flag any backlog history in the SOP.
WAT-GD-PI is in person
Selection rounds happen Feb-Mar 2026. Plan travel and budget for a Chennai-based final round. WAT topics historically cover ethics, business judgement and current affairs — match the Jesuit "Excellence with Ethics" positioning.
Work-ex helps but is not required
75 percent of the cohort has ~4 years work-ex but freshers are 25 percent. Freshers should lead with academic consistency, leadership in college and clarity on dual specialisation choice (Finance + Marketing or Marketing + Analytics combinations are most popular).
Common Application Mistakes
Skipping the 60 percent academic floor
Most common rejection reason. LIBA enforces 60 percent in EACH of 10th, 12th and Graduation — not aggregate.
Banking on CAT 75-80 percentile without a backup
LIBA does not publish a cutoff. CAT 75-80 percentile candidates should ALSO take XAT 2026 to maximise shortlist probability.
Treating WAT as an afterthought
WAT carries weight in the final selection. Practise structured 30-min essays on ethics, sustainability and corporate social responsibility — themes that map to the Jesuit positioning.
Distance / correspondence undergrad
Bulletin explicitly says "regular mode ONLY." Distance UG degrees are not eligible.
Missing the email step after payment
Bulletin requires the completed application PDF to be emailed to admissions@liba.edu after payment. Online submission alone is not the end of the process.

Gender ratio is among the most balanced in South Indian B-schools. WAT-GD-PI is the leverage round for female candidates with strong profiles but moderate CAT scores.
