What is the FORE MBA interview experience like? Interview questions, format, and tips

The FORE Delhi campus interview process is relatively straightforward and low-pressure compared to most other B-schools — and that's consistent with what we've seen across student conversations over multiple admission cycles.

The format typically involves a 10–15 minute panel interview with 3 panelists (2 male, 1 female, in the experiences we've tracked), conducted in a separate room — not in front of other candidates. The structure tends to open with the classics: "Why are you here?" and "Why FORE?", before moving into your interests and academic background. One pattern worth noting from experienced candidates: panelists will dig deeply into your favourite subject from graduation, so don't treat that as a throwaway — prepare it as seriously as you'd prepare your work experience narrative.

Across multiple candidate experiences, the question bank has included: demographic dividend, economic problems of India, current affairs, graduation subjects, why MBA, dream companies, and hypothetical manager scenarios. None of this is particularly aggressive — the overall tone is consistently described as "chill," without significant grilling.

The extempore round deserves specific attention because it's a meaningful component of the process. Candidates get 20 seconds to collect their thoughts before speaking for approximately 40 seconds on a randomly assigned topic. Topics that have come up include: "Can we trust AI?", "Rise of digital transactions in India", and "Media trials: pros and cons." This round is part of both in-person and online interview formats.

A few practical logistics worth knowing: the full process — documents verification plus interview — runs roughly 3–4 hours (a 9 AM start wrapping up around 12:30 PM has been reported). Formal attire is mandatory; most candidates wore full coats, though formals without a coat are acceptable. Well-groomed beards have reportedly been allowed despite some preference for clean-shaven. Carry your admit card, but leave the resume at home — it's not required. There are no WAT or GD rounds at FORE.

On CAT cutoffs, we've tracked interview calls going out to candidates with scores as low as 70 percentile, which suggests FORE maintains relatively flexible entry thresholds compared to Tier 1 schools.

On the question of FORE's broader value, the picture that emerges is genuinely mixed and worth acknowledging honestly. Some current students and alumni have expressed concern about the institute "losing quality year after year" and position it as a last-resort option. Others push back on this, arguing that personal effort and what you build during the programme matters more than institutional brand alone. In our experience, both perspectives contain truth — the school's placement outcomes have faced scrutiny, and a candidate with stronger CAT scores and profile should weigh peer cohort quality and ROI carefully before committing. That said, for candidates at the 70–80 percentile range who are weighing their options, FORE remains a credible conversation to have.
