What is it like to study at XLRI Delhi? Placements, campus life, and how it compares to JSR and other top MBA colleges

mixedmixedplacements and salary outcomescampus comparison (Delhi vs JSR)consulting recruitment bias

A current XLRI Delhi BM student shared a detailed breakdown of what life and placements actually look like on the Delhi campus — and it's a nuanced picture worth understanding carefully.

On Placements

The batch of 2026 achieved "quite decent roles, easily comparable to MDI, IIM Indore or even better" in final placements. Summers were admittedly "a little harsh," with 10–15 students needing to go off-campus for internships. The median salary gap between the Delhi and Jamshedpur campuses is estimated at a maximum of 1–1.5 LPA — not as dramatic as the perception often suggests. Roughly 90% of companies show no campus bias during final placements.

Where the gap does matter is at the very top. Consulting firms like MBB show a clear preference for JSR — fewer than 5 Delhi students receive MBB offers in a given year. That said, non-MBB consulting — Accstrat, YCP Auctus, Big 4s — remains genuinely accessible from Delhi. So the premium consulting ceiling is lower, but the broader consulting pathway is not closed.

For students with HUL in their sights specifically, the picture that emerges is more specific: HUL doesn't hire through standard on-campus processes at Delhi. A Financial Services background or case competition wins are typically necessary to get that conversation started.

Academic Profile and Admissions

XAT percentile cutoffs for Delhi BM have ranged from 93.xx to 99.9x, with 93.xx being the lowest heard across all categories. What's equally important to understand is that the interview outcome remains genuinely unpredictable — "criteria is a black box" is how it's been described, and we've seen this hold true across multiple application cycles. A strong GDPI performance can meaningfully offset a lower entrance score, which makes Delhi worth pursuing for profiles that don't peak on percentile alone.

It's also worth noting that several students in the current batch converted offers from MDIG, IIFTD, XLRI HR, and various IIMs — and chose Delhi. That says something real about how the campus is perceived by candidates who had alternatives.

Campus Life

Delhi's campus is located in Jhajjar, which is genuinely remote. Getting to Gurgaon for social activities takes roughly an hour and costs around ₹1,000 per trip. Campus life is described as "a little boring" by students who expected a more urban experience. That's an honest trade-off to weigh.

On the other side of it: the small cohort size — 180 BM seats plus 30 IEV seats — creates a close-knit community where "you feel like you know everyone." In our experience, this kind of cohort density tends to produce strong peer networks that hold up well post-graduation, even if the day-to-day campus energy feels quieter.

A Note on the IEV Programme

One perspective shared clearly from within the batch: don't join the IEV (2-year programme) purely for placement outcomes. The programme is described as "mostly rich brats with existing businesses," and the recommendation from experienced voices we've tracked on this is direct — any Baby IIM is a better choice over IEV if placements are your primary goal.

The Overall Picture

XLRI Delhi is a genuinely strong option for non-MBB roles across sectors, with placement outcomes that hold up well against MDI and IIM Indore. The JSR campus bias is real but concentrated — it shows up in MBB consulting specifically, not across the board. The campus location is a legitimate lifestyle compromise. And for the right profile — especially one with a strong GDPI — Delhi can be a better fit than its reputation among aspirants sometimes suggests.
