Why So Cheap?
FMS is part of University of Delhi — a Central University under the Government of India. Fees are subsidised under the public university framework. This is fundamentally different from autonomous private institutes (IIMs, MDI, SPJIMR) which are self-financing.
The University of Delhi has retained subsidised fees for FMS as part of its public-good education mission.
What You Pay vs What's Included
The ₹2.43 L tuition does not include hostel, books, or living expenses. Hostel accommodation at DU is separate (~₹3,000-5,000/month). Most FMS students stay in nearby Vijay Nagar, Hudson Lane, or Mukherjee Nagar — Delhi University's student belt.
All-in cost (tuition + accommodation + books + living + travel for 2 years) is approximately ₹3.5-5 L. Even at the higher end, the all-in cost is less than 1 year of fees at most top IIMs.
Scholarships for FMS
Given the already low tuition, scholarship demand is lower than at private B-schools. Still available:
University of Delhi merit scholarships
OBC/SC/ST/EWS fee concessions and maintenance allowances
OPJEMS (₹1.8 L)
Aditya Birla Scholarship (₹2.4 L/year for top performers)
PhD candidates with UGC NET-JRF get ₹31,000-35,000/month research stipend for up to 5 years
